Skeptiles: Episode 15 – Forget the Kids, Save Our Guns!

Skeptiles

Skeptiles for the end of the world December, 21st 2012! Due to technical difficulties, we are really late getting the show out and now we’re the last people to talk about many of the subjects we cover in the show.  We talk about the end of the world, drug war hypocrisy, we take a skeptical look at “right to work” laws, and we talk about the Sandy Hook massacre and gun control. Also, Joe brings us Arrested Developments. Intro and outro music: Guns by Negativeland

  1. Another great show lads! One point about HSBC – although it is a UK based bank with roots in the UK when it bought out Midland Bank in the 90s, it’s primary roots are in Hong Kong. Apparently HSBC stands for ‘The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation’ (I actually thought it was The Hongkong and Shanghai Bank of China, but Wiki says otherwise). I don’t have the time or inclination to try to unwind where the strings are actually pulled from, but I would not be surprised to find out that it was some kind of front for non-communist ex-pat Chinese ‘business’ men who hid out in British Hong Kong. Or maybe it is just the usual City criminals….

BTW – a colleague of mine said she thinks y’all swear too much. I explained how the whole concept of swearing is a Victorian conspiracy to excelate class-war and keep the serfs in their place, which is why it’s old-English words with harsh consonants that’re ‘bad’ and the latinised softer words that are ‘acceptable’, so she should shut the fuck up.
